This position will commence at approximately 25 hours per week, with strong potential to progress into a full-time role for the right candidate based on performance, reliability, leadership capability, and operational requirements.

Through our carefully selected range of footwear and our long-standing relationships with local podiatrists and healthcare professionals, we help customers make informed decisions about their footwear and foot health.

As our business continues to grow, we are expanding our focus beyond footwear alone to include education around foot functionality, strength, mobility, stability, and long-term well-being.

With foot pain and lower limb issues affecting a large percentage of adults, we are passionate about helping our community better understand the role footwear plays in their comfort, movement, and quality of life.

At House of Florian Shoes, our team are more than retail sales assistants. We are Footwear & Wellbeing Consultants who help customers move comfortably, confidently, and with greater support every day.

 

About the Role

As our Senior Sales Assistant / 2IC, you will play a key role in supporting store operations while delivering exceptional customer experiences.

You will work closely with ownership to help lead the sales floor, support daily operations, and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service and professional footwear fittings
  • Building genuine customer relationships and repeat business
  • Helping customers find footwear solutions for comfort, support, mobility, travel, work, and special occasions
  • Styling customers in both fashion-focused and comfort-focused footwear
  • Confidently recommending complementary products and add-on purchases
  • Upselling, cross-selling, and working toward sales targets and KPIs
  • Assisting with merchandising, stock presentation, and visual displays
  • Supporting opening and closing procedures
  • Assisting with stock handling, organisation, replenishment, and general store upkeep
  • Supporting team leadership and helping maintain high store standards
  • Creating a welcoming and professional boutique shopping environment

 

Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone who is confident, professional, organised, and genuinely enjoys helping people.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous retail sales experience (fashion, footwear, boutique, premium retail, health, or similar)
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Confident and competent computer skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence in upselling, cross-selling, and working toward KPIs
  • Clear, professional, and polished English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative
  • Reliable, mature, and professional presentation

Experience using:

  • EFTPOS systems
  • Point of Sale systems (Retail Express is highly regarded)
  • Printers and label printers
  • Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Computer file organisation and digital systems

Physical Requirements

This is an active retail role requiring:

  • Getting up and down from floor-level footwear fittings
  • Standing and moving throughout the day
  • Retrieving stock from shelving
  • Climbing ladders safely
  • Carrying and organising footwear stock
